In reply to Andre Da Costa’s post on March 24, Thanks so much.. I’ll try this. Hello pgw33, Good day! I’m John Dev a Windows user like you and I’ll be happy to assist you today.

I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I’m going to do my best to help you. Switch out of S mode will enable you to install third-party apps. As long you don’t visit any malicious websites and install suspicious apps, you will be fine. You can check the support article below on How to Switch out of S mode in Windows Improper app installer settings can trigger the error as well.

So, we recommend you check the app settings via the following guide. Locate the Choose where to get apps section from the right-hand pane, and then select the Anywhere or Anywhere, but let me know if there’s a comparable app in the Microsoft Store option from the drop-down menu. Otherwise, it will prevent you from installing these traditional desktop apps. Then select Sideload apps under the Use developer features section. Many apps and programs require admin privileges to install.

Before you do, make sure that the UAC feature is turned on:. Drag the slider up to the Always notify me when Apps try to install software level and click on OK. Usually, many apps and programs provide both bit and bit versions. The bit program can only be compatible with a bit Windows OS, while bit programs can run both bit and bit versions.

Thus, you need to verify that your Windows OS is bit or bit. Once you confirmed, you can download a compatible app version from the official website and install it. It’s an Adobe Premiere extension. Do you have Adobe Premiere installed? Thanks for your feedback. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site.

– Windows 10 home cant install programs free

I want my Windows 7 back.. It had windows 7 and when I was “encouraged” to download 10 I’ve had problems with it as well. I am older and don’t have the computer skills to figure all this out. WHY can’t I just download something I want on my laptop without having to go thru 70 steps?? Thank you all. Do not download any download manager. Just the programs from their main download sites. Windows 10 will be your manager. Finish setting up Windows before downloading anything. That site you posted is a malware site and should not be used.

Windows 10 is protecting you from a dangerous download. Open Download Manager is a free download manager that is known to offer intrusive adware during its installation. And I get that I cannot download something that’s a threat or malware imbedded.

I was told not to use the Windows Defender suite as it’s not as good as other anti-virus programs on picking up some things. That’s why I wanted to download Bitdefender. And I prefer Firefox to Edge and it won’t let me download Firefox. It keeps telling me that it cannot be downloaded.. Even Bit defender? Or i get this– “How do you want to open this file” with the following choices. I can’t be that dumb- Windows 7 was much more intuitive when opening downloads.

WHY is it so hard in Windows 10?? And Thanks for the heads up on the download manager thing.. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Search the community and support articles Windows Windows 10 Search Community member.

And I’m pretty sure it’s the home edition. I did all the prerequisite sign in stuff with my Microsoft account. Cannot get any downloads to open once I download them. Keeps asking what app I want to open them with WHY can’t I just download a program?

Why does windows10 make me go thru all this? I tried running the program as administrator from the drop down list. I found a screen on Microsoft on how to fixit but I can’t see how to get to the fix for Install or remove programs.

Can’t Install Programs on Windows 10? Get It Fixed Now.Unable to Install Apps or Software on Windows? Here’s What to Do

Sometimes, your antivirus or anti-malware software can prevent software from installing on Windows. We explain here step by step how to reinstall it. But as soon as I tapped ‘Install’, I got a message saying ‘Download error’. Choose this to install the full version of Microsoft Office. Although the Microsoft Store app is the experience that Microsoft envisioned for Windows 10 users to download apps, games, and entertainment, it’s not a perfect experience and doesn’t always work as expected. Have you installed any new programs recently? Failing that, you’ll need to pursue other methods to use that software, such as creating a virtual machine to run the older version of Windows the software was made for.
