Normally, if you are unable to boot the Windows 8 to its Start Screen, the Automatic Repair will check for the errors which is preventing Windows from booting up and will fix it. If you do not have Windows 8 installation DVD, you may have to create one, boot the computer from it and then perform an Automatic Repair. To create installation media, you may refer to the article given below:.

No taskbar, icons start button etc. Go to File at the top of the task manager window and choose Run New Task. A window will pop up, in that window type in msconfig. If there is a check box in the window that says Administrative Privileges make sure that it is checked before hitting enter.

If you are logged in as a domain admin however it may not be there, so simply hit enter. You are now in System Configuration. Go to the Boot tab and look for Boot options. Under Boot Options enure that the safe mode box is checked. Click apply then click ok. Restart the system when prompted. When the pc has restared into safe mode, hit the start button and type Device Manager and click on it when it is suggested in the results.

Right click and disable. Do the same in Monitor option and disable the Generic PnP monitor driver. Once finished, restart the system. When the pc restarts and you login, you should be able to view your desktop as usual. However your screen resolution may not be as it were before the problem. Go online and download the latest display driver updates for your specific system and install. You can install a software called driver booster which easily finds the lastest drivers for your system.

Install the drivers and adjust your monitor to your prefference. Left click on a black space on your desktop go to Resolution and make the needed changes. Have a Windows 8. In step 2, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes. If only one service is selected in the Service list, and you still experience the problem, the selected service causes the problem. Go to step 6. If no service causes this problem, go to step 4.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely causes the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat step 1 and step 2 without selecting the Hide all Microsoft services check box in either step.
