As a newly assigned administrator to MS Office , I have observed the assignment of “Limited Access” permission level to members in the system created group when files were shared directly to group members which then preempts their normally assigned permission level Edit and prevents them from being able to use the Edit functions.

I have read the various MS Office knowledge base articles on managing permission levels and the remedies for removing this unwanted permission assignment are hard to understand. Our startup company’s SharePoint site development has been suspended until I can figure out how to remove the “Limited Access” permissions. Can you point me to a blog post or online article that addresses this solution?
